Welcome

Welcome to the Area 53 web site.

This site contains the following navigation and content sections:

Home
The site home contains the ten most recent posts, regardless of category.

Site Pages (Links Across Top of Page)
The sections to the right of the “Welcome” link are pages where the content is more or less static.

Some of these pages are the kinds you have come to expect from web sites (“About Us” and “Links”), while others are more specific to Area 53 but still don’t change much (“Committees” and “I’m a New…”).

Search
Type a few keywords – or even a few letters – in the box next to the magnifying glass in the top right corner, then hit return on your keyboard. Every page or post matching your keywords will be displayed.

RSS Feed
RSS is an easy way to stay informed any time a post is added to this site. You can use your favorite subscription service, save the RSS feed as a dynamic bookmark, or even load the feed in email programs like Thunderbird.

If you are unfamiliar with RSS, check it out.

Events Calendar
If a date on the calendar to the right is in red, that means an event is scheduled. Move your mouse over the date to see more information (you may have to wave it over the date a few times).

Events on the calendar are considered posts.

Archive and Category Searches (Links under Calendar)
Links from these two columns function in a very simple, predictable way:

  • Clicking a link under Archives will display all posts from a particular month.
  • Clicking a link under Categories will display all posts marked under a particular category.

Note: While the content of pages is more static and general, posts address a specific issue and are labeled with one or more categories.

What Goes Where?
Most of the information sent to the webmaster will appear on the site as a post, this includes events on the calendar. That means it will have one or more category labels, and will slowly fall from the site home as more posts are added.

You can always find a post by clicking an archive month or category, or performing a search.
