General Service Conference expenses

Last Updated on January 30, 2019 by Area 53 Web Team

Area 53 assembly has discussed and approved an increase in our contribution for our delegate’s expenses to attend the 2015 General Service Conference (GSC) in New York on April 19-24. Area 53 contributions to these 2015 expenses total $3,000 (see the attached receipts). Historically, the minimum suggested area contribution has been $1,400 while the spending is estimated to be $4,000-$5,000. Our General Service Office (GSO) has made up the difference. Expenses for the week-long conference include transportation, lodging, meals, meeting rooms and handouts.

The topic “Review suggested area contribution for delegate expense for the Conference” is on the GSC agenda under Finance, and is also a topic that will be discussed at the Area 53 Mini-Conference on March 7. The conference is attended by the 90+ elected delegates from areas in the US and Canada. The purpose of the conference is to review, discuss and potentially approve actions intended to benefit “AA as a whole.” For a list of other agenda items at the upcoming GSC, visit The Mini-Conference Details webpage and click on Committee Topics.
