When Districts Support Each Other, Incredible Alkathons Happen

Last Updated on October 15, 2020 by Area 53 Web Team

From noon on December 31st, 2018 through noon on January 1st, 2019, District 26 & District 28 came together to host an incredible Alkathon! Groups from both districts had a wonderful time covering 2 hour time slots filled with food, fun and fellowship for everyone who attended. Some groups held discussions on various recovery topics while other groups chose to have a lead or mini leads. One group passed out raffle tickets to allow people to be randomly selected to speak briefly on something they had been blessed with in 2018. Another group read from the book “Living Sober” and had people to comment and share.

The opportunity for the two districts to collaborate began with a conversation between the two DCM’s and their desire to have an Alkathon that would maximize the money, time and energy of both districts. Bringing the GSR’s together to meet and plan the event resulted in reaching the ultimate goal of providing AA members with an amazing event filled with remarkable memories.

District 26 and District 28 would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the Alkathon and helped to make it a success, as well as those who were not able to attend but played a role behind the scenes. It was truly our privilege and pleasure to serve the A.A.’s of Area 53.
