The 2012 Area 53 Mini-Conference ended successfully at noon March 11 and several milestones were achieved during the Friday, Saturday and Sunday Central and Southeast Ohio service event at rustic Salt Fork Lodge in beautiful eastern Ohio. When the final ‘conference committee’ reports were made and the Area conscience was expressed Sunday morning several notable results were achieved.
Registrations totaled 114. There were 34 first-time attendees to the Mini-Conference and Area 53 had hosted the 1st of Ohio’s 4 Area Mini-Conferences in 2012.
In recent years Area 53, Central and Southeast Ohio usually was second on the list of hosts among Ohio’s four Delegate Areas. The sequence this year is Area 53, March 9-11 ; Area 55 Northwest Ohio and SE Michigan, March 16-18; Area 56, Southwest Ohio, March 23-25; and Area 54, Northeast Ohio, April 6-8.
At the end of Sunday’s final session the last of three AA Grapevine subscription winners was announced. The winners were Frank G. ( picked Feb 1 ), Jill F. (picked March 1), and first-timer, Michelle K. picked Sunday morning.
Thanks to all the members of the Area 53 Mini-Conference Committee for their year-long continuous planning and organizing. There were many trusted servants who made this Mini-Conference , “Anonymity: Our Spiritual Responsibility in the Digital Age” the success it was.
Special thanks should go to Jim M., General Service Office, NY. Jim’s reports, conference committee advice and story of recovery at the Saturday-night banquet was a great highlight.
