So many ways, from being a GSR, or a Group Rep on a standing committee or even just being a interested AA and attending an assembly just to see what its like.

We explore, develop, and offers reasonable accommodations to alcoholics with disabilities and/or special needs to ensure accessibility of the A.A. program and its resources whenever possible.

We assists individuals, groups and districts in carrying the AA message to the alcoholics who are confined in, or recently released from jails, prisons, and other correctional facilities.

The Website and Digital Communications Committee for Area 53 manages all aspects of the Area's online presence. And more!

reaches the alcoholic by informing both the general public about the AA program and “the third person” whose work involves the active alcoholic.

We review all matters relating to Grapevine publications. The committee considers and makes recommendations regarding proposed additions and changes to Grapevine publications.

The committee serves districts and groups in Area 53 by sharing information and experience to strengthen the General Service Structure.

The primary purpose of the Area 53 Treatment Facilities Committee is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the alcoholic who still suffers, specifically the alcoholic in a treatment facility, outpatient treatment or transitional housing setting.

The Liaison Committee is responsible for communication and cooperation between Area 53 and active Intergroups in Central and Southeast Ohio.

2025 Area 53 Mini Conference

March 7th - 9th, 2025

The conference provides a forum for members to discuss issues, share ideas, and contribute to the overall direction and decisions made within Area 53.

The Mini Conference helps members understand the topics and issues that will be addressed at the upcoming GSC in New York in April. This allows them to be better informed and prepared to participate in the decision-making process.

It empowers members to have a voice in shaping the future of AA in their area and beyond.

About the Mini Conference

The Area 53 Mini Conference is an opportunity for GSRs, DCMs, service committee members and interested AAs to shape the Area conscience and learn more about the issues being addressed at the General Service Conference coming this in April in New York.

More About the Mini Conference

Mimicking the General Service Conference structure as much as possible, attendees each become “delegates” to the Mini Conference. They are assigned to committees, where they discuss and vote on the same topics being addressed at the Conference. Committees then present a summary of their discussions and votes to the broader group to better inform our delegate as he/she prepares to represent us in New York. On Saturday night, GSO staff members will share their experience, strength and hope with Mini Conference attendees.
